Tandem: Language exchange App Reviews

This app has been fantastic for maintaining language skill and becoming more fluent - lots of fun and great to get to just "converse" as opposed to always doing homework exercises.

I never write reviews, but I had to for Tandem because this app is just that good. Learning a lot from all the awesome people Im meeting and practicing with. Definitely recommend for anyone wanting to learn or expand on languages.

Ive gotten to speak to people from all continents with this app. Its easy to send corrections and the layout is very intuitive. The one time I did experience creepy behavior from someone, my report was responded to within five minutes with an apology on behalf of the Tandem team. Thanks for caring about your users!

This app is a great concept to learn or get helping with improving on a language. Nice sleek UI. Notification of when your msg had been read or not.However, in the past three months that Ive been on the app, Ive only been in sporadic contact with one person and not for lack of trying. This app states at the beginning that its not a dating app and you will be ban for trying to "date". Ive seen some people doing exactly that on the app. There seems to be very little to no language exchange. In all honesty this app is very dead. I downloaded it with the expectation to meet others that could help me with learning languages. Nearly every one of my messages had gone unanswered or no reply had been given. I cannot waste anymore time nor recommend this when there are much better websites and apps with active participants. This app definitely needs some cleaning to remove those that have no desire to learn and/or help. I have another app that I found and I currently have several language partners. Tandem needs to clean out its "sleepers"

This app is pretty inviting! Ive had a conversation with a nice person in my target language for the first time, after many years of study. The social features make it very encouraging. Thank you very much!

I love this app. I was hesitant to get it because Im really shy about talking to new people but this app has really helped. It helps that you can just text someone without having to talk out loud to them or video message them. You have that option of course but its a really good app for really shy and nervous people to branch out. I recommend this 100%!!!!

I LOVE this app! Ive been struggling with my Japanese for a while until I met some really nice people on Tandem. They helped me practice and correct my grammar, and I was able to travel to Japan this year with no problem speaking to locals!! Thanks Tandem!

Makes it easy to connect with people who share similar interests. Very helpful and friendly community.

I have used the text and voice chat. Works great. People are eager to help. I have not done FaceTime chat yet.

Simply amazing app

Easy to interact with new people around the world

I got to say this app impressed me far more than I thought it could. Very well set up and a lot of people using it. No joke I literally had 32 people message me within the first 24 hours. I think its because there is so many people trying to learn English and not as many English speakers trying to learn Russian. Regardless, all of them have been incredibly friendly so far and legitimately trying to learn and most definitely willing to help me as well. Also its very interesting to talk to everyone and find out about their different culture. Its rather fun really. Great App

Great idea! Great implementation! I live in Israel and I have started to learn Arabic. With this app I am able to communicate with native Arab speakers from Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Saudia - wonderful people from countries that otherwise there is no chance I can talk to! Thank a lot!

I was hoping this app would have Gàidhlig, but it does not... Only offers Irish Gaelic. I will try again if added.

Its so easy to use. Im actually learning with real people!
